YSABEL
945 N. FAIRFAX AVE., WEST HOLLYWOOD (323) 366-2940

Yellowtail Sashimi - Ysabel - Haute Living

AMBIANCE
Imagine a secret garden with leather sofas, marvelous marble stairs, light-strung trees and an enchanting outdoor patio and you’ve got Ysabel, the latest restaurant from the team behind beloved West Hollywood hot spot Laurel Hardware

ORDER UP
There’s an inventive raw bar here, and by raw we mean vegetables—not shellfish—pasta, vegetables, greens and grains as well as meats, fish and poultry cooked on wood, coal and fire.

TOP TIPPLE
You’ll find that all libations on the inventive cocktail menu have female names. That said, we can’t resist the Kali— Chateau Ia Coste Bellugue rose, Giffard pomplemousse and Litchi-Li with rose petals, strawberries and lemon—because it’s lovely, and the Peggy Sue—Karlsson’s gold potato vodka, Middlebar pickle brine, horseradish and sea-beans—be- cause it’s wonderfully weird.

SWEET TOOTH
We’ll take the apple cobbler, thanks.

ESTRELLA SUNSET
8800 SUNSET BLVD., WEST HOLLYWOOD (310) 652-6613

Estrella Sunset French Toast - Haute Living

AMBIANCE
At Estrella, you’ll find a warm, colorful, and inviting ode to the Laurel Canyon bungalows of Hollywood’s heyday. Inviting decorations include glistening pendants, vintage pieces and lush plants, while light from the outdoor fireplaces and electric chandeliers illuminate the eatery with a warm, cozy glow.

ORDER UP
Top Chef season 9 star Dakota Weiss has created a menu of organic, garden-grown, California-friendly fare with dishes like roasted bone marrow with confit quail, kabocha squash and red wine truffle jus and Hamachi crudo with confit squash, citrus, chile de arbol and truffled pumpkin seeds.

TOP TIPPLE
We love that the drinks here are named after well known rockers and rock songs. The Dream On in particular—Russian Standard vodka, grape juice, ginger syrup, a meringue cloud and activated charcoal—is our jam.

SWEET TOOTH
You won’t be able to resist the sweet potato pie served with caramelized carrot-cream cheese ice cream.

MAIA
8768 SUNSET BLVD., WEST HOLLYWOOD (310) 360-0366

Maia Poke Tacos - Haute Living

AMBIANCE
The new restaurant from the LORE Group brings approachable luxury to the Sunset Strip with a vibe that’s just as dark and sexy as its predecessors, Yellowtail and Mirabelle.

ORDER UP
You’ll find Asian fare on the menu, which has a focus on fresh fish and sushi. The eatery is quickly becoming known for its take on poke (served as mini tacos); we also recommend melt-in-your-mouth sashimi such as Bluefin with truffle, and salmon with citrus, lime, ginger and tomato water.

TOP TIPPLE
The Pink Cadillac—vodka, lychee, dragonfruit, guava and green tea—is equal parts delicious and refreshing.

SWEET TOOTH
It doesn’t get more decadent than Maia’s chocolate cake, which is half devil’s food, half chocolate chip cookie. Yes, you read that right.

VIVIANE
9400 W OLYMPIC BLVD., BEVERLY HILLS (310) 407-7791

Viviane Brioche Hen - Haute Living

AMBIANCE
Design guru Kelly Wearstler has artfully designed Viviane, the new eatery at Avalon Beverly Hills, to resemble a revival of mid-century California. You’ll find authentic 1950s-60s furniture including vintage-gilded Italian lounge chairs and Wearstler’s signature soufflé sofas in shades of turquoise, gold and ivory.

ORDER UP
Executive Chef Michael Hung serves up a menu of Continental cuisine with modern touches such as foie gras au torchon, soft-cooked duck egg, shellfish boudin blanc and chicken with dumplings.

TOP TIPPLE
We love Viviane’s reinterpretation of classic cocktails like the Vesper; its mix of Russian Standard vodka, Bombay dry gin and Cocchi Americano makes us feel like James Bond.

SWEET TOOTH
You won’t be able to resist the Riesling-poached pear with almond frangipane and brown butter Anglaise.
