This holiday season is all about relaxing and unwinding, and no one knows how to do that better than Mirbeau Inn & Spa located at the Pinehills in Plymouth. The gorgeous property is located just a short drive south of Boston and as soon as you turn into the long driveway, you know you are in for something special.

Head into the beautiful French manor house to the Bistro & Wine Bar that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We recently visited the property and were quickly greeted by our friendly server, Karen, who offered us some refreshing cucumber water to get us started. We enjoyed a strong gin martini with blue cheese olives and sweet Plymouth punch that were the perfect complement to tuna crudo that was served with a spicy crème fraiche, local seaweed and fresh ginger. The calamari rice tempura was lightly fried and accompanied by honey and sweet cherry pepper.

The standout dish here was the steak au poivre cognac prepared by Executive Chef Stephen Coe topped with green peppercorn and accompanied by a side of rich pommes purée and fresh broccolini. The seared scallops and pillowy gnocchi were also enjoyable.
In the warmer months, be sure to request a seat on the outdoor terrace where you can dine al fresco with a beautiful view of the Monet pond gardens. Take a walk around the property before or after dinner to take in the impressive architecture, interior décor and landscape design reminiscent of an estate in the countryside near Paris.

The Bistro & Wine Bar restaurant also offers a spa-focused menu complete with European-style breakfast, salads, soups, and comfort fare. They also offer an extensive list of wines by the glass (including tasting “flights”) as well as handcrafted, small-production spirits. The restaurant offers a weekly prix fixe dinner menu Sunday through Thursday.
