Savoring a spectacular glass of wine while dining in Las Vegas is to be expected. At the Mandalay Bay’s award-winning Aureole Wine Lounge by acclaimed chef Charlie Palmer, you’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven.
Aureole’s trademark is its stunning, $1.2 million four-story wine tower that was designed by renowned restaurant designer, Adam Tihany, and features over 3,000 different bottles to choose from. Upon entering, your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful floor to ceiling windows that provide you with a stunning view of Mandalay Bay’s Swan Court. Once you’ve navigated through dense wine list and made your selection, Aureole’s notorious wine angel stewards will fly— literally—to the top of the tower to retrieve your bottle and bring it back down to your table. These wine angels don suits that wouldn’t be out of place in Catwoman’s closest and trapeze from wire cables to navigate through all four stories of Aureole’s tower. This fun aspect of the Aureole Wine Tower was inspired by Tom Cruise’s famous cable drop on the first “Mission Impossible” movie. There are all so many rare bottles within the wine tower, but if you’re really looking to live large order the 1961 bottle of Chateau Petrus, which will run you $4,500.
Since opening in 1999, chef Palmer has made Aureole one of the top restaurants in Las Vegas and wine aficionados have offered rave reviews about the Wine Lounge. Aureole has also received Michelin Stars and has been named a Four Diamond Award winner every year. The prestigious Wine Spectator magazine has also given its Grand Award each year and Wine Enthusiast have named it one of the “100 Best Wine Restaurants in the US” in 2015. The wine lounge is open Monday through Saturday from 5pm-11pm, plus, there’s an excellent happy hour (5pm-7pm). Even if you don’t consider yourself a “wino,” by the time you’re done here, you will absolutely feel like you’ve become one.
If you’re really looking to relax and enjoy a glass of wine while in Sin City, the luxurious Aureole Wine Lounge is exactly where you need to be.
