SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14th

8 AM: Capture the Wild

Are you a fan of photography? If so, head to Jungle Island this Saturday to learn from the best. Led by nature photographer, Robert Sullivan, and award-winning Miami Herald photojournalist, Al Diaz, this five-hour, hands-on workshop – appropriately titled Introduction to Nature Photography – will include an engaging lecture; tips on how to use a DSLR and camera phone; a critique of participants’ photos; and a walking photo tour, where guests will have the opportunity to put these new tips into practice. This event will take place at Jungle Island, at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail. The cost to participate is $69 for annual pass holders, and $89 per person for regular admission. Taxes and fees not included. 

9 AM: The Color Run™

Considered the “happiest 5K on the planet,” The Color Run™ is back in the Magic City, and it’s bigger and better than ever. What can participants expect? Well, being doused in explosions of color, for one. Plus, now in its 4th year, the 2015 installment will include an all-new “Sparkle Zone™” – where runners can stop and take colorful photographs at different spots throughout the course – as well as a fun-filled Finish Festival, a celebratory event with music, dancing, massive color throws, new confetti cannons, shimmery clouds of color, sparkle, and much more. Sun Life Stadium is located at 347 Don Shula Drive. Registration is open for individual runners and teams.

7 PM: DASH “Taste of Design”

This Saturday, celebrate art and entertainment with Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) at the award-winning school’s 8th Annual “Taste of Design” gala. Following the theme “Art Starts Here,” this event will be an evening of art, music, fashion, film, a silent auction, and a dazzling array of epicurean delights by some of the Magic City’s top chefs. And to kick it off, VIPs can head to a special reception at Palm Court, in the Design District, where they’ll be able to munch on bites from Michael Schwartz’s Ella, Buena Vista Deli, Divieto, Panther Coffee, CrepeMaker, Delectable by Design, Enchanting Creations, Soyka, Lisboa Grill, Pieducks and more. The Moore Building located at 4040 N.E. 2nd Avenue. Tickets are available for a donation of $100, with VIP tickets priced at $150. The VIP reception starts at 5:45 PM, with the main event starting at 7 PM. 

7:30 PM: Fall Seasonal Beer Dinner

This weekend, head to the perfectly-posh Acqualina Resort & Spa for a special one-night-only beer-pairing dinner led by some of the greatest names in the game: Miami Herald Food Editor and beer aficionado, Evan Benn, and AQ’s very own Chef Anthony Dominguez. Hosted by the Mediterranean-inspired AQ by Acqualina, this four-course event will feature some of the greatest flavors of fall: like Crispy Kale Salad paired with Florida Beer Co. Native Lager; Acorn Squash Risotto and Orange Blossom Pilsner; Spaghetti Squash and Basil Chicken Meatballs with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Warm Pumpkin Crumb Cake a la Mode with Rogue Hazlenut, and much, much more. Acqualina Resort & Spa is located at 17875 Collins Avenue. Tickets can be purchased through the hotel Concierge, and are priced at $60 per person. A reception will precede dinner at 7 PM.
