MIA: Palm Beach’s Angle Welcomes Manlee Siu as New Chef de Cuisine

In a part of the world as perfectly posh as Palm Beach, there’s something to be said for a resort and restaurant that’s more memorable than the rest. And when that place is as beautiful and delicious as Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa – and its fine-dining restaurant concept, Angle – it’s hard to think that anywhere else would even compare.

Part of the Ritz-Carlton resort family until 2013, today, this standalone sanctuary is the epitome of modern elegance. In addition to its Jonathan Adler-designed rooms and award-winning, 42K-square-foot Eau Spa with hanging lounge chairs and relaxed vibes, this luxe local now boasts another reason to visit: Manlee Siu, Angle’s talented new Chef de Cuisine.

Unlike most chefs on the restaurant scene today, Siu didn’t realize her passion for cooking until later in life – when she spent ten years, after college, working in her family’s restaurant business. After returning to school to study at Le Cordon Bleu, she joined the team at the San Francisco-based Gary Danko, where she first met then-rising-star, Chef Josh Thomsen. Realizing their chemistry in the kitchen, Siu and Thomsen later collaborated for the opening of Meritage restaurant, in Berkley, and years later, a farm-to-table concept in New Jersey called Agricola. Earning the latter of the two a spot on Gayot’s 2014 “Ten Best New Restaurants” list, now, the pair is at it again: teaming up to helm Eau’s Angle.

And with their new addition to the Palm Beach spotlight, what can we expect? Tantalizing flavors – and with it, Thomsen and Siu’s signature “snout to tail, root to shoot and farm to table” concept centered on fresh, high-quality and seasonal ingredients sourced from South Florida’s best local vendors. It’s a delicious, Palm Beach twist on contemporary American cuisine; one that the area’s posh, hungry patrons have never tasted before.

Angle is located in the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, at 100 South Ocean Boulevard, Manalapan, FL 33462. It is currently open for dinner every Thursday through Saturday, from 6 PM to 10 PM. Starting November 4th, it will be open every Wednesday through Saturday, from 6 PM to 10 PM.
