La Serre, a chic French-Mediterranean restaurant in Downtown Dubai, has introduced a weekend breakfast allowing diners to brunch amidst its smart surroundings.

I am definitely a regular at La Serre. From evening meals feasting on its enticing mediterranean menu to nonchalant mornings downstairs in the venue’s boulangerie section munching on pain au chocolate while gazing at La Serre’s ever-changing artworks and much more, this is a place that has become a safe bet for a good dine in Dubai any day at any time. Now, the restaurant has upped its breakfast offering a notch to offer a brunch menu in its sophisticated upstairs restaurant. And on one Friday, I went with a friend to check it out.

The restaurant was already packed when we walked in. Many Emirati families occupied the large circular tables were they could be seen feasting on a range of La Serre’s decadently French dishes. We were seated by the window in the corner (my favorite table) and immediately served two glasses of Bollinger Champagne stirred with freshly-squeezed orange juice. A bread basket was soon brought over full of a variety of freshly baked mini loafs and slices, including a selection of viennoisserie, two pain au chocolat and two croissants.
The breakfast à la carte menu offers all of the downstairs Boulangerie’s classics including the eggs benedict, scrambled eggs with summer truffle and the weekend treat: French Toast. But for those who are feeling in a decadent mood, which we surely were, there is the fried eggs with foie gras. We ordered it along with an omlette with mushroom, tomato, onion and salmon, French toast to try and a selection of fresh fruit. We are big fans of the Ouefs Bénédicte or Eggs Benedict and so we thought we’d opt for the other options on the enticing yet rather short menu selection.
Delicious. The service was top-notch on that particular day and eating in such sophisticated surroundings made the experience feel like a real treat. One doesn’t always need a reason to celebrate, right? To top it off we indulged in an intricately prepared Millefeuille pastry. It was breakfast and lunch combined – a true brunch and an elegant one at that. We’ve been back several times since and each time there’s a full house. While the menu is lacking a bit terms of selection and Chef Izu’s more creative fare that you can experience over lunch and dinner, this is made up through the restaurant’s refined surroundings, good service and decadent French tastes.
Priced à la carte, the French Bistro is open on Friday and Saturday from 10am-1pm. La Serre is located in Vida Downtown Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai. Tel: +9714 4286969
