Last week, the second-annual Rolex Central Park Horse Show wooed event-goers.
The schedule commenced with the U.S. Open Arabian Horse Show on Wednesday, Sept. 23, and continued with the Canadian Pacific $34,000 FEI Speed Class and a $10,000 1.2m Junior/Amateur class on Thursday. Friday welcomed the Grand Prix Dressage, $25,000 Under-25 Jumper Grand Prix, and the $210,000 CSI 3* Grand Prix. Weekend activities includes a Dressage Freestyle as well as an exhibition from the top pony, amateur, and professional hunters.
“Land Rover’s bond with the equestrian community is truly deep-rooted, going back more than two decades, and Land Rover has since been the vehicle of choice for horse lovers all over the world,” said Kim McCullough, Brand Vice President, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC.
The British car manufacturer returned as the official vehicle of the horse show. During this year’s show, the Pony Club kids competed on both horse and horsepower. After a round of jumps on their ponies, competitors drove a mini electric Land Rover series vehicle through a course of cones against the clock.
The highlights of the Rolex Central Park Horse Show includes Conor Swail, who took top individual honors in the, jumped to victory again in the $40,000 FEI Speed Class. However, this time around it was aboard Simba De La Roque. Nicole Bellissimo also took home top honors in the $25,000 Under 25 Grand Prix in the irons of Harley David.
Equestrian buff Georgina Bloomberg competed in the FEI Speed Class on Thursday, Sept. 24th placing seventh. Bloomber, who won the coveted U.S. Open $212,000 FEI 3* Grand Prix in 2014, competed once again in attempt to win two-years in a row. However, Daniel Bluman beat Georgina Bloomberg. In addition to the victory, Bluman was crowned the U.S. Open’s leading rider after scores from his third-place finish in Thursday’s U.S. Open $40,000 FEI Speed, presented by Canadian Pacific Railway.
