Gastropubs are increasingly common around Big D. Combining dishes made with locally grown, fresh, and seasonal ingredients with artisan beers and craft cocktails, the gastropub fills the gap between five star dining and stopping by the bar for a cold one on the way home from work. Gastropubs in Dallas range from really excellent to wouldn’t-take-your-mother-in-law. We’ve made things easy by sharing five of our favorites.

1 Luck

Trinity Groves
Located in the up and coming Trinity Groves area of Dallas, Luck offers local craft beer along with menu items made from locally sourced ingredients. Coconut Ale sounds good to us! The menu is limited but that doesn't keep it from being creative. Beer ice cream is the perfect finish for a big bowl of Red Chile Pozole.

2 Public School 214

Marye Audet
Whether you stop in for brunch on the weekend or a quick cocktail on your way home from work you'll love PS 214. The beer list is one of the most unique that we've seen with artisan brews like Campfire Stout brewed with graham crackers, chocolate malts, and roasted marshmallow flavor. If that's not your style try the Crushed Velvet. It's a combination of blackberry and blueberry reduction, mixed with lavender and karlsson’s gold vodka.

3 Lark on the Park

Lark on the Park/Facebook
Situated across from Klyde Warren Park, Lark on the Park is possibly the most upscale gastropub that we've encountered in quite awhile. Quiet those late night cravings with Duck Confit Eggrolls served with Thai red curry, roasted grapes, and pineapple chili sauce or enjoy a shishito omelet with habanero corn salsa for brunch. Wash it down with one of the craft cocktails or artisan beers.

4 Fat Rabbit

Fat Rabbit/Facebook
Located in Uptown, Fat Rabbit sources high quality local ingredients and focuses on Texas products. The Global-American cuisine includes dishes like tempura lobster tacos, Hangover Pie (made with quail eggs, 5 kinds of cheese, and candied bacon), and Chicken Shawarma Sliders. Locally brewed beers and craft cocktails abound.

5 Mashd

The food at Mashd is certainly in the top ten but it's the drinks that have us going back again and again. There's nowhere else that we can think of where you can get so many moonshine based cocktails. For example, Jolly Rancher is made with watermelon house-infused moonshine and it really does taste like a liquid Jolly Rancher with a kick. You can even get flights of moonshine so you can try a variety of flavors. Locations in Frisco and Fort Worth
