In addition to all the gambling and nightlife that Las Vegas is known for, just as many people flock to the city in search of scoring some sweet shopping deals at the massive designer outlet malls or outdoor shopping centers. The latest destination is Downtown Summerlin, which is a quick 30 minute drive from the Strip and provides you with all the shopping, dining and entertainment you could possibly want, in one convenient location.
Downtown Summerlin opened in October 2014 and was instantly met with widespread acclaim by Las Vegas locals who had been looking for shopping and dining destinations that were off the Strip. Located near the Red Rock Resort and Casino, just off the 215 freeway, Downtown Summerlin has rapidly expanded since its opening. It’s easy to spend an entire day here, with a beautiful wide-open layout that allows for outdoor shopping and dining. There’s also the Regal Downtown Summerlin 5, which specializes in showcasing independent and award-winning films opposed to the latest Hollywood blockbusters. What’s more, you can enjoy your movie with full bar and dinner options, making the five-screen theatre the perfect place to compliment your date night.
As for the shops? Popular mainstays like Macy’s, Dillard’s, Nordstrom Rack, Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors and Forever 21 are already here, with Banana Republic, GAP and more big names on the way. Along with all the great deals waiting to be discovered, it’s a pretty surreal feeling to walk around Downtown Summerlin and be surrounded by the vast Red Rocks mountains in the background. Once the sun sets, you’re treated to majestic skylines that make Downtown Summerlin feel like anything but a standard outdoor shopping mall.
When it comes to food, there are not shortage of fantastic culinary treats to explore. From fine dining at Andiron Steak & Seafood, Sushi Loca, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill and Messina, to the more casual (yet still out-of-this-world) cuisine found at Blue Ribbon Friend Chicken, Shake Shack, Five Guys and Public School. No matter what dish you might desire on any given night, there is a restaurant for you. Don’t think we forgot about dessert, where you definitely need to try Cream’s handmade (and huge) ice cream sandwiches, or the sweet treats inside It’s Sugar and the Wonderland Bakery.
If you’re looking to score some sweet deals, dine out at a wide variety of acclaimed restaurants and take in some evening entertainment while avoiding the Strip, then you will definitely want to check out what Downtown Summerlin has to offer.
