While Las Vegas will never be confused with New York City, Los Angeles or San Francisco when it comes to being a must-stop, touring destination for musicians, the last few years we have seen some dramatic improvements. Now, most major hotels on The Strip have a dedicated theater or live music venue. However, there remain only a few spots that boast the kind of diverse lineups and inviting atmosphere that true music aficionados crave. If you’re looking for a proper place in Sin City to take in a concert, these five Haute Living-approved picks are where you need to be.

Brooklyn Bowl

This has won all the local awards as the best live music venue in town for the last two years and for good reason. Located inside The Linq, this is the place to turn when you’re looking to see performances from artists of all genres. Upcoming shows here include the legendary Lauryn Hill, hard rockers, the Deftones, and jam band favorites, the Trey Anastasio Band. As the name Brooklyn Bowl implies, there are two floors of bowling lanes that you can rent and play on during all the concerts!  Plus, they have fantastic food options at the restaurant, including some of the best fried chicken in the city. Simply put, this is one of the best concert venues in not only all of Las Vegas, but worldwide, as evidenced by other Brooklyn Bowls in New York City and London.

The Sayer’s Club started in Los Angeles and was brought to the SLS Las Vegas last year due to the popularity of its live music mash-ups. Since opening its doors, the venue has played host to wild sets from Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and Macy Gray, and most recently Jamie Foxx, who captivated the sold-out crowd during its one year anniversary party. In addition to all the big names who seem to jump onstage from out of nowhere, The Sayer’s Club has also proven to showcase emerging and smaller artists with its recent addition of the remaining Bunkhouse Saloon shows. The weekly parties have also proven to be a hit, such as the DJ-friendly, “White-Label” Thursday sessions, where talented turntablists showcase their skills by spinning and scratching vinyl records.  There’s a new country music themed, Friday night party starting in September, and if you love stand-up comedy, The Sayer’s Club also holds weekly appearances from some of the funniest comics in the game.

The Chelsea

Located inside The Cosmopolitan Hotel, this live music hotspot is among the larger concert venues, but The Chelsea is beloved for booking popular artists from all genres. Upcoming shows from Garbage, Lenny Kravitz and Drake all promise to pack the house, but it also has rising country star Sam Hunt on tap as well as folk-rock legend Neil Young. The wide-open layout and superior soundsystem make seeing a show here a real treat, plus, the floors have a little bounce to them, so when the place gets rocking, you will actually feel it!

Boulevard Pool

This is the other live music venue located at The Cosmopolitan and what could be cooler than seeing a concert while lounging poolside? From pop, to rock, reggae and hip-hop, you can rest assured that during the warmer months in Vegas a bevy of top acts from these music genres will be booked. You can also enjoy the “Dive-In Movies” that are screened here every Monday night for just $5 (complimentary for hotel guests), where you get treated to a double-feature, all while swimming under the stars.

The Joint

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is your go-to spot in the city for catching popular rock bands past, present and future! The stage production and sound quality are top-notch, plus, the intimate atmosphere makes you feel like you’re getting a private show. Upcoming concerts include Primus, Incubus, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, UB40, Rick Springfield and of course the annual Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball. For those who like to rock, The Joint is the place for you.
