Art + Glamour Collide at The Broad’s Opening Gala

Amid Emmy week anticipation, the opening gala for Eli and Edythe Broad’s Broad Museum was far and away the hottest ticket in town.

On Sept. 17, 800 luminaries from the worlds of art, film and fashion joined the Broads at The Broad for the museum’s inaugural black tie dinner.

The Broad, a contemporary art museum, will be home to 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the 120,000-square-foot, $140-million building, is an artwork in itself with its honeycomb-like exterior and column-free exhibition space on the third floor. The Museum will feature two floors of gallery space to showcase The Broad’s comprehensive collection and will be the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library.
