Family vacations are wonderful but they have a tendency to leave you exhausted and longing for a cozy weekend for two with your significant other. There’s just a sliver of summer left and you have just enough time to squeeze in that sweet staycation with someone special at the Hilton Anatole. We were recently invited to indulge in just such a getaway complete with an indulgent dinner at SER Steak + Spirits and an oh-so-fabulous facial at VSpa Dallas.

Pull up to the valet parking area and it is immediately apparent that you are about to experience something special. Keys are handed over, and you walk unencumbered into the hotel to check in — the bags will be brought up to your room. And oh, that room. The rooms at the Anatole are decorated with a relaxing, Asian inspired theme. The tower rooms have an especially beautiful view of Dallas through the wide windows. The entire place is wonderfully quiet — perfect for cocooning.

The Hilton Anatole has the largest art and antique collection of any hotel in the United States. Be sure to carve out a few moments to stroll through the hotel and admire pieces that have hung in the palaces of past world leaders. Wedgwood, unique statuary, and even two segments of the Berlin Wall are on display for the guests’ pleasure. If you want to know more about each piece you can plug in to Anatole Art on your cellphone and read a history and description of the artwork.

There are several restaurants and lounge areas where you can sip your favorite cocktail and people watch but do plan on at least one dinner at SER Steak + Spirits. Many of the menu items are crafted from local ingredients which gives the food that fresh from the farm flavor. Baskets of Asiago cheese bread are placed in front of you — the delicious bread is made in house from one of the chefs’ grandmother’s recipe. The highlight of the charcuterie and cheese plate is a venison and blueberry salame cut in paper-thin, salty-sweet slices. It’s this type of attention to detail that makes this meal one you won’t forget. Do trust the sommelier with your wine and cocktail choices. Not only is she very knowledgable, she is brilliant at figuring out exactly what you want.

Breakfast in the room is a must — remember, this is time for you to be totally pampered and refreshed!

There are several pools, a jogging path, and a gym available so that your workout routine isn’t interrupted. The gym is in the same building as the spa, which you will definitely want to visit. V Spa Dallas offers numerous relaxing experiences from couple’s massage to a facial that will have your skin glowing.

A weekend away, even if you are staying in town, is a great way of getting a little perspective. With busy work schedules, kids’ activities, charity and church events, and everything else there isn’t much time to take care of yourself, let alone your relationship. A couple of days with no responsibilities or worries is the perfect way to recharge.

And the Hilton Anatole is a great place to do it.
