August is officially in full swing and this weekend there are some really unique events happening in Sin City that you won’t want to miss! From elaborate Kabuki fights on The Strip, to the return of the Las Vegas Film Festival and the legendary sounds of hip-hop superstars, Method Man and Redman, there is no shortage of fun to be had. You may be familiar with the famed fountain shows that take place nightly outside of the Bellagio Hotel, but this weekend, you’ve never experienced a spectacle quite like this on the Las Vegas strip. A brand-new, 30 minute production will unfold on a specially constructed, 165-foot stage, where Japanese actor, Ishikawa Somegoro, will do battle against a giant carp. This epic “fight” will be projected onto the Bellagio’s iconic fountains to create a cutting-edge depiction of the classical Japanese art form, Kabuki. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience with three special (and free) performances taking place over the course of the weekend.

Las Vegas Film Festival (through August 16th)
If you’re a true film buff or just want an excuse to escape the scorching August heat, the Las Vegas Film Festival returns after a six year hiatus and will be running through the end of the weekend. Taking place in Downtown, Las Vegas, the festival features premieres of acclaimed independent films and documentaries that are a welcome change-of-pace from your more traditional summer blockbuster fare. The event has drawn rave-reviews from movie aficionados and offers you a cinema experience that would rival something found in more traditional cities like Los Angeles or New York.
