Here Are The Most Expensive Golf Clubs in the World

Just one of Honma’s five-star irons stars at $4,795, so a full set can easily top $75,000, but these Japanese beauties are worth every penny. The Five Star Set is Honma’s highest-end and is only made by the most senior craftsmen at Honma in Japan called the Takumi. Just how many people lay hands on each club? Over 100, some of who work to polish clubs within a 1/100th of a millimeter for precision Honma says can “make all the difference.”

The brand was started in the 1960’s by Hiro Honma, and quickly became a favorite of Japanese professional golfers. The plant —or “studio” as they like to call it—in the beautiful suburbs of Sakata in Yamagata prefecture has over 400 skilled craftsmen carefully making clubs one-by-one.

The Beres Art Series boasts 24-karat gold-plating and assorted artistic images etched into the head featuring Mount Fuji and temples (ladies get cherry blossoms and deer). All of this makes for the most beautiful clubs—and the most expensive clubs anywhere. They are the favored sticks of Danny DeVito, Jack Nicholson, Marc Anthony, and, naturally Donald Trump. After all this series is as much about hand-made, forged clubs as it is about the bling factor.

They’re not just pretty though, they hit a mean ball too. The clubs are made from high-strength maraging steel, the irons boast a wide power face and help both distance and directionality to keep you in the fairway. They call this trait in golf clubs “forgiveness,” but if it brings your handicap down a notch or two, it’s totally worth it.  There is also a cavity back featuring a deep undercut, which should help players achieve a strong, high launch. If you want these qualities without putting down as much as it is to join most country clubs, try one of Honma’s less pricey series, where $6,000 still buys you a nice set indeed.
