Tea is brewing up a storm. Yes, the charming, relaxed ritual of afternoon tea is in vogue – so much so that there is even a National Afternoon Tea Week (which starts today and runs until Sunday 16) dedicated to the much loved British tradition. Wondering where to celebrate having your cake and eating it? Check out these three haute spots..

Bluebird Chelsea
Situated on the King’s Road in the heart of Chelsea, the restaurant is a sophisticated London hotspot for food lovers. On the first floor, the main restaurant and bar have become legendary: a contemporary dining room in a rich palette of deep reds and dark browns that serves a traditional afternoon tea consisting of a stunning selection of finger sandwiches, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam plus an exquisite array of cakes and sweets. The tea is priced at£22.50 per person or £29.50 with a glass of champagne. For more information or to make a booking, visit www.bluebird-restaurant.co.uk/menus/bar-and-terrace/afternoon-tea-2

Cucina Asellina
Classy Italian, Cucina Asellina, has recently launched their ‘Taste of Italy’ afternoon tea. Priced from £29 or £35 with a glass of Prosecco per person, the tea consists of Italian inspired sandwiches such as Grilled courgette and sundried tomato served on focaccia bread, followed by an Asellina red berry tiramisu, Sardinian style amaretti biscuit, Raspberry lychee rose mousse and raspberry sandwich and Buttermilk scones served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. Mmmmm.
