Hands On The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Tribute To The Rolling Stones Watch

In 2014, Zenith unveiled its Rock and Roll side by teaming up with the Rolling Stones on the 250-piece limited edition El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Tribute to The Rolling Stones.

The Swiss manufacture must have found a chart-topper, since it has decided to record another hit with the legendary British band. Zenith has indeed unveiled a new El Primero Chronomaster Tribute to The Rolling Stones, but this time it’s made the partnership more subtle and less exclusive.

Designed in 1969, the original El Primero came out the year the Rolling Stones released the single “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” and both have since become timeless icons that have defined and influenced its contemporaries for the past 50 years. If the first ‘Tribute To The Rolling Stones’ introduced a rather classic partnership-watch, drawing heavily from the Rolling Stones register, the new watch has less to do with the band and is more in tune with current trends.

The new timepiece is larger (45mm vs 42mm) and oozes a lot more cool than its predecessor. The trademark tongue and lips logo has been moved to the back of the watch, to make way for a sexy black dial housed in a titanium case with DLC coating, a material that today’s collectors rave about.

The watch itself features hours and minutes at the center, with 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Inside though, Zenith is once again spinning its favorite record, the legendary automatic El Primero 4061 chronograph movement.
