As one of the only female restaurateurs on the Las Vegas Strip, Giada de Laurentiis is a bit of an anomaly. The Food Network star has dominated the Sin City scene with her namesake restaurant, Giada, for the last year. To celebrate Giada’s one-year anniversary, we sat down with the stunning star to discuss her favored spots on the Las Vegas culinary scene.

  1. I love Milos; I just do. I think that the fish selection and the ability to actually see the whole fish and pick what you can eat is something that’s really going on today; it’s really unique and not something you can find in Vegas. I feel like Milos not only is it a fantastic meal, but I get to see fish, pick fish and engage with what I’m doing.
  2. I do enjoy Jose Andres’ new meat spot [Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres] and I find that to be really fun. I want to learn something when I eat dinner. I don’t want to just be served a meal. I want to be empowered with a knowledge that I didn’t already have. At Jose Andres’ spot I feel like you see the meat, see how they prepare it—it’s very open, very engaging—and I feel like you’ve learned something when you leave that restaurant.
  3. I have a few places off The Strip—a Thai place called Lotus of Siam in a little mini mall that’s one of the best Thai places I’ve been to, ever. It’s run by a Thai family and I think it’s been there for 40 years. It’s a juxtaposition to the places you’ll find it in Vegas. There’s a lot of fun, really good spots out there.
