Memorial Day weekend is one of the Boston’s most popular with tourists and locals alike enjoying all the city has to offer. Here is a look back at some of the weekend’s most popular events.
Boston Ballet wrapped up its beautiful performance, Thrill of Contact, this weekend at the Opera House. The mesmerizing performance included magnificent dancing to classic music by Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Schubert along with a world premiere by Principal Dancer Jeffrey Cirio. It also featured George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations; Jerome Robbins’ The Concert and William Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude.
The Seaport Elite II kicked off its spring season right offering two-hour private yacht cocktail cruises. Guests aboard dined on crudité, cheeses, flatbreads, a pub station and dessert selection. The gorgeous yacht, which has two dining decks and two open air decks, is available for private charter for morning, afternoon and evening cruises around Boston Harbor. Dining options include plated menus, buffet, clambakes, brunch and cocktail receptions.
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum hosted a Thematic Tour on Saturday. Visitors were able to take a closer look at Velazquez, Sargent and Rembrandt paintings to view the light and dark contrasts between the colors, texture and reflection portrayed.

The food and wine tour strolls past Old North Church, down Hanover Street to Artu Roticeria & Trattoria where visitors dined on northern Italian fare and sipped on Italian varietals before stopping at the boutique local wine cellar, Wine Bottega. City Wine Tours also hosts walking tours of the South End and Back Bay as well as private VIP tours.
