It was a perfect night for the year’s most talked about fashion show, The Costume Institute’s Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It couldn’t be anything but the chicest show on earth with the Queen of fashion herself,Ms. Anna Wintour, steering the glamour boat. But where do the A-listers dress, and gather before the show?
Getting anywhere on a New York City evening is a b***h! Traffic cops are not hip to the fact that you have to get to the social event of the year. The solution for many of New York’s social set was to gather close-by at the Mark Hotel for pre-gala dressing and schmoozing. It’s New York’s most understatedly elegant hotel, very close to museum mile and the Met’s tented red carpet.
With the hotel’s service in the five-star range, the guests can rest assured that every need will be taken care of. The Mark Restaurant and Bar by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is ready, willing and able to provide pre-gala nourishment. Gentlemen can have their tuxedo shoes spiffed up at the John Lobb kiosk, and for work-out junkies, personal trainer Dan Flores is on call. The Frederic Fekkai salon is flanked with able bodied hair technicians that can intervene should a hair mishap occur, although most attendees likely hired stylists of their own.
The guests departed the hotel dressed to the nines. Spotted in ravishing evening gowns were Kendall Jenner, Olivia Munn, Kerry Washington and Uma Thurman who was accompanied by Andre Balaz. Adrian Brody exited as well as Bianca Brandolini and Emily Blunt. Karen Elston looked like royalty in a gold crown and a massive red tulle skirt. Photographer and sharply dressed, Mario Testino, shot out of the door seemingly uncomfortable being in front of the paparazzi glare. He, took out his own camera and started clicking at the group.
The A-List fashion elite was ready for New York’s social and fashion event of the season.
