Normally in Dallas at the end of May, we are enjoying waterparks, poolside cocktails and our all-time favorite summer pastime — complaining about the heat. Not so this year. The rain has, if you’ll pardon the expression, put a damper on everything for the past five weeks. Every rain cloud has a silver lining, though. The cool, dreary weather means that you have a few more weeks to get your body ready for summer.

Sunday at 7 PM enjoy dinner,cocktails, and a silent auction to benefit Hopes Door, an organization that specializes in helping families affected by domestic violence through intervention and prevention services. These services include transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, as well as services geared at helping abusers break the cycle of abuse. The event will be held at III Forks,17776 Dallas Pkwy. The MetroBall is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Over the past ten years MetroBall has raised over $275,000 to assist people with HIV/AIDS. It partners with numerous businesses and associations in this endeavor. This year Belinda Carlisle will be performing selections from her solo career. The event will also include a DJ dance party, surprise guests, and a silent auction. It all comes together for an amazing evening! The event will be held at Station 4, 3911 Cedar Springs.
