Poppy Delevingne Hosts Jo Malone Blossom Ball

Already celebrating her new appointment as Jo Malone ambassador, model and fashion personality Poppy Delevingne, older sister to Cara, hosted her first London event in honour of the brand on Thursday night. The swanky Blossom Ball took place at Jo Malone’s Georgian Townhouse in the capital, which had been especially transformed to evoke the feeling of an English garden full of an array of flowers including, of course, poppies in honour of their first spokesperson.

“Jo Malone scents have always been present during my life, so there’s an emotional connection there which makes this feel so natural. Last year, my husband and I scented our wedding with Orange Blossom,” said Delevingne as she opened the event, before adding, “Tonight I’m wearing an eclectic blend of Tuberose Angelica, which is sensual, and Peony & Blush Suede, which makes me feel carefree and a little bit wild.” Speaking of the pale blue silk dress she wore to the ball, which she created in collaboration with Jonathan Saunders, the model said, “We designed it in about fifteen minutes and then went about the business of having fun. I wanted it to be cornflower blue so that I could coordinate with the flowers – aren’t they amazing?” Saunders was apparently equally intrigued by the prospect of designing a special gown for the occasion: “When Poppy asked me to design her dress for the ball and told me it was a blossom theme, the first thing I said was, ‘it cannot be a floral dress’,” he said of the piece, which saw the hostess look absolutely beautiful at her first official outing as brand ambassador. The night would not have been complete without a healthy sprinkling of London celebrities, which included David Gandy, Daisy Lowe, Matthew Williamson, Savannah Miller, George Lamb, Bay Garnett, Laura Bailey, Jasmine Guinness, Alice Temperley and Marissa Montgomery, among others.

The ball was perfectly timed to correspond to London’s impending spring season, and the floral design of the venue included a swing suspended beneath a bough of cherry blossoms, as well as an array of foxgloves, roses, ivy and sweet peas. There can be no doubt that the older of the Delevingne sisters is the perfect embodiment of the brand’s sophisticated and elegant values and she will be hosting a series of similar events across the world in cities such as L.A in the months to come.
