For Earth Day, the oceanfront resort is also offering eco-friendly teachable moments including guided adventure activities, a sea lion release, ocean clean up by kayak, sea salt conservatory unveiling, ONEHOPE Wine Tasting and plantable seeds for guests.

Santa Monica's Shore Hotel is the largest Southern California property to register for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver certification and is the first and only of its kind in Santa Monica. Sustainable features include: 50% of construction waste was recycled or salvaged; wood used in the project is from sustainable forests; 10% of all building materials are from within a 500 mile radius; there are 'low flow’ water fixtures, which significantly reduce water consumption; native landscaping reduces the amount of required irrigation; sophisticated building controls systems continually monitoring and adjust energy usage; low VOC (Volitile Organic Compounds) materials and maximized access to natural daylight. Additionally, the Shore Hotel has partnered with Clean the World Foundation, the largest non-profit global recycler of hotels soaps and bottled amenities. Together they reduce the waste created by discarded soap and shampoo products and prevent millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every year.
