DSquared2 Celebrates London Opening

Following the news last month that DSquared2 was set to join the luxury pack of stores on London’s Mount Street in the heart of Mayfair, it seems that the Caten twins—the two Canadians behind the label—have pulled out all the stops by hosting a party in honour of their debut in the capital.

Last night saw a host of celebrities, including Elizabeth Hurley, Lindsay Lohan, Tamara Beckwith, Ellen von Unwerth, Laura Hayden, Oliver Cheshire, Fiona Scarry, Charlotte Tilbury and Chloe Green, all flock to celebrate the opening of the latest addition to the trendy London locale. Following a lavish dinner of fish and vegetables, it was time to hit the dance floor of exclusive club Lou Lou’s for many of the guests, where they partied the night away to the sounds of Pooldisco DJ’s Minnie Dipple, Smokin’ Jo and Tom Stephan. “Fries are forbidden here,” joked Dsquared2’s chief executive Gianfranco Maccarrone at the earlier dinner event. And there were certainly no carbs in sight for the svelte figures of Liz Hurley, who looked undeniably chic in a skintight black dress, and Pixie Lott, who went for a vintage Marilyn Monroe style look and sizzled in red.

“All of our stores have common design motifs which are an integral part of our Canadian heritage,” co-founder Dean said to W Magazine. “For us, London also holds a personal meaning as we live here. The city and its people are a constant source of inspiration,” he added of the brand’s debut in the capital. Whilst DSquared2 has had no physical locations for the past 20 years, it seems that it is now on a mission to expand its brick and mortar presence across the world, including openings in New York and Los Angeles.”It is definitely an important step forward for the company and our growing retail plan,” said Dan. “Expansion is our main goal, reaching different cities and continuing to grow in the countries where we are already present.”
