David Rockwell — Founder and President of the award-winning architecture and design firm, Rockwell Group — is more than just an American architect. Famous for his avant-garde interior and set design as much as his impressive hotel infrastructures, this world-renowned entrepreneur is a trendsetter, an innovator, and above all, a true artist.
Launching Rockwell Group in 1984, today, Rockwell has built a 150-person empire with a home office in NYC and satellite offices in Shanghai and Madrid. The recognized creative force behind some of the world’s most admired locales and events — like W New York and W Union Square, the Ames Hotel in Boston and the Alofts hotel group; the set design for Broadway’s Legally Blonde and Hairspray, as well as the 81st Academy Awards; the infamous Nobu restaurants and Gordon Ramsay’s London-based restaurant, Maze — David Rockwell is taking the design world by storm, one major hotspot after another.
And now he’s set his sights on the Magic City.
Having already collaborated on the architectural design for Miami’s glamorous Brickell Heights condominium towers, David Rockwell is now designing the lobby, amenity floors, elevator corridors and the 60 designer suites of the new, urban-chic Hyde Midtown Suites & Residences. Drawing his inspiration from bold art galleries and the ultra-luxury and boutique shopping of trendy Miami and the surrounding Midtown area, Rockwell has designed the interiors to include an eclectic, edgy mix of raw and finished materials, with small pops of color; creating a final look that is simple, but luxurious, with a sophisticated ambiance.
“I love seeking out unique design opportunities and working on projects that present new and different challenges,” said David Rockwell, Founder and President of Rockwell Group. “Hyde Midtown and Brickell Heights are particularly exciting as they are located near Miami’s dynamic, emerging art and design districts. Contributing to the evolution of these new neighborhoods has allowed us to play with concepts of luxury to invent something fresh and new for hospitality and residential environments.”
Hyde Midtown Suites & Residences is expected to open to the public in 2018.
