Two new quintessentially British celebratory afternoon teas to be served on board Belmond’s UK luxury day trains, Belmond British Pullman and Belmond Northern Belle in 2015; the ‘Afternoon Tea by Fortnum and Mason’ and ‘Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party’.
Two Great British icons unite on 20th June 2015 when Fortnum and Mason bring their traditional ‘Fortnum’s Afternoon Tea’ on board Belmond British Pullman in London. The luxury department store’s famous blend of teas along with champagne, delicate sandwiches, cakes and scones will be served within the historic Pullman dining carriages as the train sets of on a journey throughout the British countryside. Founded in 1707, Fortnum and Mason, with its royal patronage and legendary hampers, is famous for its choice of global teas.
The Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Parties on board Belmond Northern Belle celebrate 150 years of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland in 2015. Multi-coloured sandwiches, Queen of Heart jam tarts and Cheshire Cat scones along with musicians and magicians bring to life the creative and colourful world of Alice. With departures from various UK cities including Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh, the next Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party takes place on 26th April 2015 from Cheltenham, Gloucester and Worcester.
Dining on board Belmond British Pullman and Belmond Northern Belle, sister trains to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, is one of the UK’s most exclusive and luxurious dining experiences. The 1920s and 1930s art deco carriages with picture windows provide scenic views of the British countryside, together with exceptional personal service by liveried stewards, evoke a bygone era of the golden age of travel.
