We truly are in the age of the high-rise.
Now that the ultra-rich elite are flocking to urban centers, hoping to score their own little corner of the Manhattan skyline, high-rise luxury real estate is exploding in Gotham. We recently profiled a newly developed triplex at 500 Madison Avenue that was listed at a near-inscrutable $150 Million, officially taking the prize as New York City’s most expensive apartment listing. Now we’re able to sneak a peek inside the most expensive apartment ever sold in the city.
Overlooking Central Park, The penthouse at One57 was sold for a whopping $100 million to a secret buyer. While the luxurious space is still under construction, Nightline was given a tour through a fully furnished model apartment that will resemble the record-smashing penthouse. The luxury apartment features a master bedroom with panoramic views of the city, his and her closets, and additional bedrooms painted with a mix of paint and eye shadow, giving the walls a special sheen.
According to real estate professionals, many haute buyers are attracted to the idea of securing a space as high in the sky as possible. “A lot of people are very attracted to the views,” said real estate broker Noble Black, who is currently brokering several million-dollar deals. “A lot of my buyers really want as tall a building because they want as high a view as they can get. Those are buildings that didn’t exist a while back.”
