Delfina Delettrez Opens London Store

Part of the Fendi family, Delfina Delletrez may have dropped her famous last name but is soon set to be a permanent fashion fixture on the London scene following the opening of her first store outside of Italy on the capital’s Mount Street.

Following in the footsteps of Christopher Kane, Roland Mouret and Nicholas Kirkwood, the young jewellery designer’s first British store sees it filled with soft lighting, delicate fixtures and fur-lined alcoves to demonstrate her creations. “I wanted to enter into one of my pieces,” explained Delettrez of the concept behind the store design. “They reflect the code of the brand. I love suspended pearls and stones — and phantom settings,” she added, referencing the display cases that line the space.

At 670 sq.ft, and spanning two floors, Delletrez’ vision was conceived with a little help from Rafael de Cárdenas from Architecture at Large, with the ground floor intended as an everyday showcase space, whilst the downstairs will be reserved for private sales. After all, the UK is one of the designer’s markets. The opulence and taste with which the space has been designed is clear—small velvet stools, antique pieces and Giò Ponti lights add an ethereal quality to the store; little wonder, given that Delletrez is the daughter of one of the most famous designers in the world, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and jeweler Bernard Delettrez. All the elements of Delletrez’ upbringing, heritage, Italian influences and roots are evident in her aesthetic and subsequently in her store. “It’s my own universe down here and it’s very adaptable. I have the option to do it in velvet or make it very sterile — as long as it suits my needs,” she said to WWD.

So while Fashion Week may be in full swing just a few miles down the road, it’s Delfina Delletrez who marks the latest addition to London’s hottest luxury fashion locale. And this is one designer who is sure to be making big waves on British soil.
