Razzle Dazzle, It’s Time for Art Basel – Part I

Tuesday:

2pm Jessica Goldman will preside over the renaming of  20th Street to 29th Street on NW Second Avenue in Wynwood as Tony Goldman Way. Miami Dade County Commission will honor Goldman, a pioneer who helped establish Wynwood as one of the world’s most exciting arts destinations, will be memorialized just in time to kick off Miami Art Week.

Louis Vuitton’s Playing with Shapes – which brings to life Pierre Paulin and Herman Miller’s unrealized residential project from 1972. It has an opening at 3pm, but you can stop by any day to see the trifecta of items created which include a 3-D animated video and a selection of 18 pieces. The satellite exhibition will debut during Design Miami/ in the Design District from December 2-7.*

Artist Mischer Traxler is hosting an event at the Shore Club with Perrier-Jouët for a new project called ephemera.

Check out Related Groups public art installation by artist Julio Le Parc at the intersection of Brickell and Biscayne Bay. The installation called “Torsion 1” and “Sphere Rouge” will later go on to be on permanent display at ONEBrickell, but for now, they are a celebration of Basel.

Haute Living and The Webster, along with superstar NBA player-turned-designer Dwyane Wade will release his new sneaker variety with longtime partners Li Ning and Alejandro Ingelmo. While the details of this latest collaboration are hush hush, what we can divulge is that the December 2nd unveiling will be one for the books.

Wednesday:

Stop by Art Basel Miami Beach at the convention center to see Blake Emory, one of today’s newest thought-provoking abstract artists will debut his highly anticipated trademark collection of works in Optic Modernism at this year’sSpectrum Miami exhibit during Art Basel Miami Beach, taking place December 3–7, 2014.*

Of course, we’ll be attending the Roger Dubuis event hosted by Stephanie Seymour at The Thompson hotel in celebration of the Velvet Haute Couture collection. Roger Dubuis CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué and legendary supermodel Stephanie Seymour are playing host to an intimate group of industry greats in art, fashion and entertainment.  The fashionable evening will also include special edition Dom Pérignon bottles designed by Iris Van Herpen as well as a live artistic performance, and music by DJ Hannah Bronfman.
