“I still get up every morning thinking that I have the best job in the world.” Rimantas Janlauskas’ enthusiasm for his job is just one of the things that makes the new Jin bar at Dorsett Shepherds Bush special. Taking its name from the Chinese word for gold, Jin bar is a stylish, rich and sumptuous space, boasting warm interiors and a to die for drinks menu.
All of Jin’s signature cocktails offer exciting and unusual combinations of flavours but Rimantas’ personal favourite is the Montecristo Daiquiri. A twist on the classic favourite, this drink combines vanilla syrup, lime juice and cigar-infused white rum. Further standouts include Shakespeare in Love (Archers peach, Pimms, strawberry puree, Prosecco), Moulin Rouge (Havana Club 3yr, crème de cassis, raspberry puree, Prosecco) and Vesper martini (Beefeater, Absolut Elyx, Lillet Blanc).
For those who prefer the classics, enjoy a refreshing mojito or a perfectly blended Manhattan. The impressive selection of champagnes and sparkling wines is another option, with a luxurious vintage Tattinger from 2006 and a Mosaique Rosé, Champagne Jacquart just a hint of the delights on offer. The extensive wine list ranges from a crisp Chablis to a bold Chianti with wines from Italy to Argentina available.
Rimantas’ career in hospitality began in 2005 in his native Lithuainia, where he completed a stint at the Bacardi cocktail bartender academy to become head bartender in one of Vilnius’ finest hotels. After two years, the wider world beckoned and Rimantas moved to London, where he is now the head bartender at Dorsett’s Jin Bar concocting killer cocktails and tailoring the menu to suit each and every guest.
