Finding a good stylist can be a hairy situation, which is why we at Haute Living have done the hard work and made the cuts (pardon the pun) for you. Here are the hair salons in Los Angeles where you’ll leave feeling as if your coif looks like a million bucks…or more!

1 Sally Hershberger

Sally Hershberger is a creator, innovator and hair guru. She is known for her daring cuts that grace the most famous heads in Hollywood, including Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, John Mayer and Jimmy Fallon. Though she splits her time between Melrose Place and her New York City salons, she leaves LA in the capable hands of colorists like Sulekha Hilton and stylists such as Paul J. Perez (a complete understatement, by the way—Sulekah's painstaking attention to detail makes her the one to beat) in her absence.

2 Benjamin with Negin Zand

Benjamin with Negin Zand is located on Melrose Avenue, but it has a distinctly cool London-esque feel— owner Benjamin Mohapi IS from the British capital of cool, after all. This English gentleman's club-themed salon is already a Los Angeles institution thanks to its apothecary of unique products, its comfortable, cool interior, and the recent addition of former Sally Hershberger colorist Negin Zand. It's no wonder that "It' girls like Emma Stone and Agyness Deyn can't stay away.

3 Andy Lecompte

If you want a cut above the rest, head straight to Andy LeCompte's chair and trust in the power of his snip. It's hard not to fall for the uber-cool industrial, loft-like space and the confident cuts and colors of LeCompte's staff. It's no wonder that celebrity regulars like Penelope Cruz, Katie Holmes, Megan Fox, Demi Moore and Madonna can't seem to stay away.

4 Meche

In French, "meche" means “a highlight” or “a lock of hair". Meche Salon owners Neil Weisberg and Tracey Cunningham have taken the play on words one step further at their Beverly Hills salon by paying homage to its location, which once housed the legendary Menage a Trois salon decades ago. Like its iconic roots, you're find yourself with a head of hair worthy of a celebrity here. Cunningham is one of the best colorists in the business, while Weisberg actually began his career in the Queen's salon—as in, the Queen of England. He still gives his customers the Royal treatment to this day, and that's a fact.

5 Marilyn Cole at Salon Republic

Salon Republic is where the best independents in the biz go to do their own thing, and such is the case with master snipper Marilyn Cole. When this celebrity stylist isn't hopping from photoshoot to photoshoot, she's teaching the art of beauty as one of Aloxxi's top artistic team members or—if you can book her—settling down to give you the style you only dreamed of at her intimate, VIP salon in West Hollywood.
