When you think about it, your opinion of a hotel begins the second you step inside its lobby. Is there marble involved? Is it spacious? Are you ready to ooh and ah? These are the questions we had in mind when coming up with our list of the five most awe-inspiring hotel lobbies in Los Angeles and Orange County. The good news—these entranceways are supremely beautiful. The better news? The rest of your experience at these luxury retreats is just as amazing.

1 Montage Laguna Beach

Oh, that view! As soon as you step into the Montage Laguna Beach's stunning lobby lounge, you'll find panoramic views of the Pacific at your beck and call. Grab a glass of champagne and take in the Craftsman-inspired decor, which features rich hues and plush wood furnishings and wait for the magic of sunset to happen. Truly, there's nothing more magnificent.

2 The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel

The lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is always alight, as if it's the backdrop for your own personal movie. We love the marble flooring, the plethora of fresh flowers and long entranceway that leads to Raya, the Ritz's lobby lounge restaurant which has a truly awe-inspiring view from 150 feet above sea level.

3 The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

There's nothing more luxurious then stepping out of your Bentley/Porsche/Rolls-Royce/Audi and stepping into the lobby of the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. From the moment that two well-appointed doormen usher you in with a "Welcome back" or "Welcome, ma'am/sir" as if you'd been coming there forever, to walking through the lavish entranceway with its chandelier and intricate and plentiful floral arrangements, you know you're into for one of the most lavish experiences of your life.

4 The Millennium Biltmore

The Millennium Biltmore brings back extravagant opulence of a bygone era. The lobby of this historical hotel was formerly the Music Room, which hosted fashionable tea dances in the early 1930's. The entranceway still has its original marble fountain and oak paneling, which you might recognize from both "Ghostbusters" films. This lobby has history, and you can feel it.

5 The Beverly Hills Hotel

The Beverly Hills Hotel recently renovated its quietly opulent lobby in celebration of its 100th anniversary. Guests should expect to find a circular marble floor in favor of The Pink Palace's former pink carpeting, a new chandelier, new art and soft white walls that were, of course, formerly pink. In the spirit of change, this iconic hotel even has an iMac next to the entrance for guests to use.
