New Tom’s Launches Evening Bar & Bistro

Tom Conran’s acclaimed Notting Hil pop-up, New Tom’s, is to launch an evening Bar & Bistro in September. The new venue will offer innovative dishes in an intimate setting, with a  ‘secret ‘ garden attached.

The menu at New Tom’s Bar & Bistro has been devised by head chef, Tom Straker, who trained at the Dorchester and with Heston Blumenthal at Dinner. Staker uses ultra-modern cooking techniques throughout his menu, which he has divided into ‘Garden’, ‘Ocean’ and ‘Field’ sections. Straker will source many of the ingredients from his family farm in Herefordshire and signature dishes are set to include Fresh pea, broad bean, roast tomato and cavolo nero, Spiced hake, split beans, white peach and toasted almonds and Lamb Neck with creamed polenta, borlotti beans and pancetta. Classic desserts have been updated with modern twists such as Lemon curd, walnut and flamed meringue, chocolate crack with salt caramel and mascarpone and English strawberries with toasted oats and vanilla custard. There will also be a six course tasting menu available for £55, featuring delicacies such as Crab brioche and suckling pig.

New Tom’s bar team have curated a list of original and delicious cocktails with signature serves including: Tommy’s Margarita, made with Tom Conran’s very own Chamucos Tequila, Fresh Lime and Agave Syrup, the Gojipolitan, a zingy blend of Goji-berry infused Vodka, Cranberry Juice and Triple Sec and the Kensington Park Swizzle, a heady blend of Rum, Angostura Bitters, Fresh Mint and Lime Juice. Snacks designed to  complement the cocktails will include: Burrata, Bruschetta with smoked tomatoes, Goats curd and olive oil and Crispy pork skin with Caramelised apple and thyme salt.

New Tom’s Bar & Bistro will have an eclectic feel with original pop art lining the walls, mismatched wooden chairs and low-slung lightbulbs. Guests will enjoy the authentic air of an eccentric bistro with crisp white tablecloths, soft lighting and retro mirrored back bar. Upstairs, the more informal bar area will be open for breakfast and lunch and features a series of 1930s Parisian metro booth seats running along the wall on the upper level, blue leather padded diner stools and a beautiful raised rotunda with a Renaissance-inspired mural that depicts an Italian Madonna surrounded by a cornucopia of earthly delights depicting labour and love. The garden has been inspired by the beautiful Les Jardins Majorelle in Morocco and features beautiful marble topped tables, dotted amongst the leafy foliage.

New Tom’s is located in the fashionable end of Westbourne Grove at 226 Westbourne Grove.
