Nick Jones – the man who brought us Greek Street institution, Soho House, as well as London restaurants including Electric Diner, Hoxton Grill and High Road Brasserie – is to open a second Soho House.
The new Soho House outpost will open in Spring 2015 on Dean Street – a stone’s throw from the original Greek Street location – in one of Soho’s most remarkable Georgian town houses.
Mr Jones who is married to BBC Crimewatch presenter Kirsty Young told London’s Evening Standard: “ “With each and every House we open internationally, our growing number of new members always like to visit the original club in London, our birthplace, at 40 Greek Street.
“In our 20th year we wanted to celebrate Soho House by giving our members another club in Soho to work, create and socialise in.
“Doing this in London and bringing this Georgian building to life has been a personal labour of love for me. It brought back fond memories of opening Greek Street and the journey myself and the team have been on.”
Soho House 11 – to be called Soho House Dean Street – will take over a town house, previously used by a film finance company, that was almost destroyed by fire five years ago.
The founder of the private members’ club, aimed at people in creative industries, says that he has spent more than £10 million restoring the Dean Street townhouse.
Soho House Dean Street will boast three bars, a brasserie, 42 seater screening room, roof terrace and open courtyard. Members of the original Soho House – due to close for a major refurbishment in Spring 2015 – will be granted complimentary access to the new club.
Built in 1732, the new Soho House is to be furnished with Georgian fireplaces and furniture and will also feature a stunning mural by the artists John Devoto, depicting a naval scene.
