The LA Auto Show is upon us, and this year’s show is all about bespoke: made-to-order, customized luxury vehicles. In advance of this year’s event, which runs from Nov. 21 – 30, the LA Auto Show’s Brendan Flynn sat down with Haute Living to discuss which luxury brands are giving buyers a little something something extra.

  • Ultra luxury brands such as Rolls Royce and Bentley have been providing custom vehicles for their elite customers for decades, but now we are seeing a surge of brands offering not just custom cars but individual experiences to capture a particular lifestyle associated with the brand.  Aston Martin not only offers its Q bespoke line [which includes bespoke colorings, deeply personal representations or unique trim and material patterns], but to market this line of custom vehicle,  they recently planned a drive around Napa with some potential customers and sold several cars as a result.
  • Audi offers its bespoke program called Audi Exclusive. In addition to being able to have an Audi made to order, the company is also offering owners custom experiences as part of the “lifestyle.”  The recently launched bespoke master class, which offers experiences such as an exclusive styling class with Collette Dinnigan or sailing lessons from World Champion sailors.
  • BMW Individual offers custom interiors and exteriors on a broad range of it vehicles: most recently that even included 4 series models.  You can even make a trip to Munich to select your custom materials by hand.
  • Bentley Mulliner offers a unique, one-of-a-kind vehicle option that is hand crafted, including diamond-quilted seats and door panels with perforated hides, drilled alloy sports pedals and a knurled sports gear lever.
  • Mercedes-Benz offers its own bespoke designer program entitled Mercedes-Benz Designo [which includes an exclusive selection of exquisite paint, leather and interior trim options]; Ferrari offers its Tailor-Made program [owners can opt for luxury traditional materials, such as cashmere, or more casual, contemporary ones of the likes of denim. Needless to say, there are plenty of high tech options, such as carbon-fiber, too; Lamborghini has its Ad Personam program [a personalization of colors, and an extended choice of rims, brake calipers in yellow and silver, plus smoked rear windows and tail lamps; Porsche offers its Porsche Exclusive service—you meet with a consultation team to create a personalized design—and also has elite driving experiences in various locations around the world, including the soon-to-be-opened Porsche Experience center in nearby Carson, Calif. [which will reportedly open later this year].
