AMBIANCE
Don’t let the size of Chef Josef Centeno’s intimate 32-seat Italian eatery fool you: though it’s small, it’s mighty; a reservation here is one of the hottest tickets in town.

DYNAMITE DISHES
Centeno’s blend of Japanese and Italian cuisine is perfectly executed in various Omakase-style tasting menus that change nightly. Depending on how hungry you are, you can order from a 5-course, 8-course or roughly 25-course “Super Omakase” menu (which must be booked 72 hours in advance).

Sweet Tooth
Again, the menu changes nightly, but if you’re lucky, the custard with grapefruit and coconut tapioca will be available.

TOP TIPPLE
Wine, Champagne and sake dominate the menu here. We dare you to be different and order a bottle of Junmai Ginjo.

AMBIANCE
This chic and stylish contemporary French restaurant from the husband and wife team of Chef Walter and Margarita Manzke as well as restaurateur Bill Chait is a dream meal in a stunning location; it’s home is the storied and historic Campanile building.

DYNAMITE DISHES
Start your meal with some Black River Russian

Osetra caviar, followed by Kumamoto oysters. Save room for dishes like Pumpkin Agnolotti with hedgehog mushrooms and the Berkshire Pig’s Head with lentils, bacon, frisee and farm egg.

Sweet Tooth
The cherry tart with griottines and Sicilian pistachio ice cream is heavenly.

TOP TIPPLE
We love the “Speaking in Tongues” cocktail – a blend of amaro, mezcal, strawberry, lemon and angostura as much for its name as we do its taste.

Trois Mec

TROIS MEC
716 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles,
CA 90038
Tickets available online
only at troismec.com

AMBIANCE
This tiny, impossibly haute eatery from Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo is deceptive from the outside – it’s located in an obscure Hancock Park strip mall – but the intimate, 26-seat interior, as can be expected from these master chefs – is pure glamour and elegance.
DYNAMITE DISHES
The menu changes nightly depending on Lefebvre’s mood and available ingredients. Past items include avocado with sushi rice, salt cod cream, lime and cilantro.

Sweet Tooth
Cross your fingers that the poached strawberry with hibiscus, Szechwan peppercorn and tonka bean ice cream will be served.

TOP TIPPLE
Commemorate your meal appropriately with a worthy bubbly and order a bottle of 1979 Krug.

Hinoki + The Bird

HINOKI + THE BIRD
10 Century Drive, Los Angeles,
CA 90067
(310) 552-1200

AMBIANCE
Chef David Myers’ Century City eatery is a staple for power agents, foodies and romantics alike. Its wooden interior, candlelit tables give the eatery an enchanted forest feel.

DYNAMITE DISHES
Myers is a master of subtlety, offering up exquisite items like Hinoki scented black cod with sweet potato and pistachios.

Sweet Tooth
Though we advise you to try everything on the menu, you absolutely can’t leave without tasting the ginger mochi with honey, caramel and lemon jelly or the miso doughnuts.

TOP TIPPLE
The cocktail menu is stylish and substantial. You can’t go wrong with the Hinoki Swizzle – Amontillado Sherry, St. Germaine, fresh green apple and Champagne, or the Bird Cup – the eatery’s take on a traditional Pimms Cup with muddled citrus, cucumber, mint and ginger.
