If you were a true VIP, you were on the guest list for Etihad Airways‘ intimate Beverly House-held dinner.

The airline pulled out all the stops for an intimate dinner celebrating the June 1st launch of its daily service between Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi.

As guests entered the legendary Beverly House, which has played host to many a Hollywood film (you may recognize it from The Godfather), they were greeted by a group of traditional Arabic Ayala dancers, who were flown in from Abu Dhabi specifically for the event. Etihad Airways cabin crew then offered Arabic coffee and dates before being escorted onto the property’s terrace.

During the champagne reception, guests sampled hors’ dourves and mingled among displays of Etihad Airways’ recently announced Residence, which will be introduced on the airline’s A380 aircraft; it is the only three-room hotel in the sky.

Thomas “The Butler” gave guests a sneak peek at “The Residence”, which comes complete with a butler, personal chef and travel concierge, before the crowd moved on to the lawn, where 35 tables were set up – all named after the islands off of the coast of Abu Dhabi.

The dinner highlighted the best of the airline’s dining experience. Ten classically trained First Class chefs worked alongside Operator Michael Duddie and Executive Chef Guus Wickenhagen to prepare a three-course dinner, which consisted of a starter of organic tomato and burrata salad with basil pesto and garlic crouton, a main course of pan-seared Chilean sea bass with zucchini and cherry tomato or braised boneless short rib with puree of cauliflower, English peas, tomato and veal jus, or herb risotto with English peas, organic roasted tomato, sweet yellow corn, green onion and black chanterelle mushroom. Dessert was guanaja chocolate layer with tea brulee on soft chocolate sponge.

Following the gourmet meal, Harry Connick Jr. performed a 45 minute set with his band.

The gala reception was hosted by Etihad Airways’ brand Ambassador and X Factor judge, Dannii Minogue, and was attended by music producer Quincy Jones; former astronaut Buzz Aldrin; master chef Wolfgang Puck actor Shaun Toub.
