The company returned this spring for its sixth Center appearance to debut Revelations, a dance choreographed by Ailey in 1960 that tells the story of African American faith from slavery to freedom through spirituals and blues music, and offers a universal message of strength and hope. From the introspection of “I’ve Been Buked” and the enthusiasm of “Wade in the Water” to the joy of faith in “Rocka My Soul,” this work has been a classic from its first performance.

The cast performed five shows of Revelations while in Southern California, each of which included a pre-performance talk by a member of the company, and the Saturday matinee will include a post-show talk.
