The stars gathered at the Beverly Hills Hotel last week for a cause: Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA‘s annual Kaleidoscope Ball – Designing the Sweet Side of L.A.

Harry Winston sponsored the gala event and also introduced its $1 million pledge to the UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute to establish the Harry Winston Fellowships. As the first corporate sponsor of Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA’s innovative pediatric fellowship program, Harry Winston, Inc., will support the work of young pediatric physician-scientists who are conducting research to prevent, treat, and cure disease and illness in children.

In addition to Harry Winston’s announcement, several attendees were honored for their philanthropic efforts.

Host Maria Menounos presented the Kaleidoscope Award to entertainer siblings Julianne Hough and Derek Hough, who received a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd including close friend Nikki Reed.

The second annual event also honored Maureen & Bryan Stockton with the Humanitarian Award and Grace Suomi, a former UCLA patient, with the Innovator Award.

The evening, co-chaired by Amanda Brown and Beth Friedman, included a cocktail reception, dinner and a special musical performance by Grammy Award-winning artists Vince Gill and Amy Grant. Presenting sponsors for the Kaleidoscope Ball included Mattel, Inc., Harry Winston, Inc., and Toys ”R” Us. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute.
