John Turturro, Anne Hathaway Come Out For Miami International Film Festival

The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) kicked off on Friday, with opening film Elsa & Fred, starring Shirley McLane and Christopher Plummer at the Gusman Olympia Theater. The stars, including Anne Hathaway walked the red carpet and attended the inaugural screening.

On Sunday, John Tururro, who has appeared in over 90 films over three decades, received a Career Achievement award from the festival. The event was sponsored by newly launched Swiss watch brand 88 RUE DU RHONE, which is serving as the official watch of the Miami International Film Festival this year. The company was founded by the grandsons of legendary watchmaker Raymond Weil and is already making waves in the watch world.

MIFF is celebrating its 31st anniversary this year with a fun pairing with SOBEWFF’s Lee Brian Schrager, who has programmed a fun series of movie and dinner pairings that are underway. The next one features the film FOOD FOR LOVE, at O CINEMA WYNWOOD followed by dinner at EGG & DART authentic Greek cuisine.

MIFF is considered the preeminent film festival for showcasing Ibero-American cinema in the U.S., and a major launch pad for all international and documentary cinema. The annual Festival, produced and presented by Miami Dade College, attracts more than 60,000 audience members and more than 400 filmmakers, producers, talent and industry professionals.
