1 Osteria Mozza

This A-list Hollywood spot serves up haute Italian fare from Mario Batali, Nancy Silverton and Joe Bastianich. In addition to delectable dishes like Sweetbreads Picatta and Duck al Mattone, the eatery offers a mozzarella bar and exquisite, massive wine list. You'll go home happy, trust us. As a heads up, make sure to book in advance: this spot is so VIP it's nearly impossible to get a reservation.

2 Bestia

Is Bestia the hautest new addition to the Italian culinary scene? We think so. Chef Ori Menashe, formerly of Angelini Osteria, and his Pastry Chef wife Genevieve Gergis are the husband and wife team behind this Arts District eatery. You must try the house-cured salumi and braised beef cheek-filled agnolotti as well the plethora of pizzas: our favorite is the potato with mozzarella, ricotta, grana padano, rosemary and maldon sea salt.

3 Piccolo

If you're looking for a true gem of a restaurant, look no further than Piccolo, the Venice locale that has even the most discerning Italians smiling with pleasure. You'll find phenomenal, authetnic fare and an incredible wine list at this gorgeous, tiny eatery by Venice Beach. Try the doppioraviolo, a dish of braised white cod and pumpkin filled ravioli with sweet anchovies fondue and the gnocchi, with light potato pillows and a slow-roasted ox tail ragú. Perfezione!

4 Spago

Ah, Spago. Wolfgang Puck's infamous Beverly Hills eatery went through a major face change over the summer, and it's all the better for it! This iconic restaurant is the crown jewel of Puck's empire, and with reason. We couldn't just pick one (or 10) dishes we loved, so we urge you to try the tasting menu and let Wolfgang work his magic!

5 Sotto

You will go gaga for the culinary delights served up by chefs Zack Pollack and Steve Samson at Sotto. Everything about the fare served here is authentic, from the house-made pastas to the Neapolitan pizzas taken piping hot out of an artisan wood burning oven. Add that to the fresh, seasonally relevant cocktails and boutique Italian and California wines, and you've got a winner of a dinner.
