Tory-Burch

SHOP
Tory Burch
366 N. Rodeo Drive
(310) 274-2394
Tory Burch might have come a little late to the Rodeo, but residents are grateful regardless. The new Beverly Hills space is the designer’s 4th in LA and 30th in Southern California, but completely unique in its inception. Custom-designed by Burch herself with the help of architect Daniel Romualdez, the new store is 4,700 square feet and three stories of pure glamour. Shoppers will see a brass fretwork façade inspired by Chinese Chippendale and an interior where abaca rugs and brown lacquer walls provide a neutral backdrop for seafoam-colored drapes and teal velvet sofas. Decorative elements like gold leaf peony wallpaper mixed with white coral sconces, a Madeleine Castaing carpet in an oak-paneled room, and a velvet sofa under an antique Moroccan mirror add elegant touches to the space. The VIP room is also supremely chic, featuring a terrace, working fireplace and cozy living room. The entire Tory Burch collection including ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry, small leather goods, swimwear and accessories as well as the new fragrance and beauty collection in collaboration with Estée Lauder is available at the new store.

HERMES
434 N Rodeo Dr.
(310) 278-6440
Each Hermès store is different, and the redesigned Rodeo Drive outpost is especially specific to Southern California. In the 12,000 square foot space as designed by French company RDAI, there is an impressive array of vintage photographs, including a rare shot of Grace Kelly cleaning the bag that bears her name — the Kelly bag. The second floor of the space includes a “men’s universe” and “women’s universe” of clothing, shoes and accessories; the former includes a bespoke room where men can pick and choose the fabrics and colors they’d like used for suits, sweaters and shirts. The shop also bears one-of-a-kind items in its blue bicycle ($4,700) and saddlebag ($11,200) as well as two calfskin leather blue basketballs ($12,900) which are meant to symbolize the sky, ocean and pools of Los Angeles.

ENJOY THE ARTS
THE WALLIS ANNENBERG
Center for the Performing Arts
9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd.
(310) 746-4000
The long-awaited Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts finally opened its doors last October to much fanfare. The new venue has completely transformed an entire Beverly Hills city block into a luxe new cultural destination. Within the 1933 Italianate-style Beverly Hills Post office will be the 150-seat Lovelace Studio Theater, a café and a gift shop. The Wallis also houses the new, cotemporary, 500-seat Goldsmith Theater. It is the first performing arts center to be built in Beverly Hills, and we must conclude that a visit here is the perfect way to ring in the New Year.
