1 Ossigeno

Ossigeno, which means “a breath of fresh air” in Italian, is without a doubt one of the best Italian restaurants in town. It is stylish, elegant, and yet down to earth, creating an atmosphere that is at once alluring and comfortable. Attention to detail is found everywhere, from the menus to the elegant cutlery and silver candlesticks on each table. Seafood dishes are an ultimate treat. Try a main course of pan-fried prawns with sweet chili, garlic, borlotti beans, and parsley pesto. For dessert, don’t miss the Amaretto crème brulee. 2 Armani/Ristorante

It's hard not to be surprised over Armani/Ristorante's popularity. The Armani-branded restaurant has a look similar to that of the designer's collections: classic, subdued and elegant. It's cuisine is just as sophisticated and surely some of the best Italian in town. Make sure you try the tasting menu for signature dishes and don't skip out on some favorites including the white truffle crème brûlée, baby squid filled with crab and the seared langoustine risotto, among many others which give a contemporary take on traditional Italian cooking. You won't be let down.

3 Splendido

This exceptionally elegant eatery whisks one away to an upscale trattoria in Italy. Guests have the choice of sitting indoors or outdoors on a lovely patio amid the stunning gardens of the Ritz-Carlton - itself very much reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance country villa. The menu offers a mix of traditional dishes as well as more avant-garde fare such as the duck breast served with ricotta cheese. Make sure to try the pan-seared sea scallops with pumpkin cream, amaretti and pickled vegetable for starters and the gnocchi di patate arrostiti con salsa al parmigiano e pesto alla genovese, roasted potato gnocchi, parmesan sauce, pesto genovese for your main. This is a restaurant that has an old-fashioned charm that is not common to most venues in the city.

4 BICE Mare

This classy Italian restaurant is the latest addition to the Milanese chain. Quintessentially Italian in every sense, this new location particularly specializes in seafood. Try the salmon tartare for starters, which is served with little wedges of orange that gives it a delectable balance between sweet and sour. For main dishes, the monkfish ossobuco is adventurous, but worth it. Ossobuco is traditionally made with veal shank, but the chef of BICE has recreated the old recipe by using monkfish instead. Desserts are very much in line with the traditional Italian fare: a creamy tiramisu, apple tortino, and of course, gelato.
