The real-life inspiration for Leonardo DiCaprio’s financially-swindling playboy in The Wolf of Wall Street is a hit close to home for Angelenos: Jordan Belfort lives in the tony beach community of Manhattan Beach.

Despite his sordid past — he scammed investors out of a whopping $110 million throughout the 1990s and served 28 months in jail — Belfort now has successfully managed to turn his life around, and works as a motivational speaker based in the South Bay.

And you very well may be seeing much more of his face in the near future, thanks to Chris Grant, as the Electus CEO wants to make Belfort, now 51, a reality star.

The “uplifting series” will show how the one-time white collar criminal helps others who have hit rock bottom and are seeking redemption.

Given that Grant is the man behind Mob Wives and Fashion Star, a series starring Belfort very well may be a surefire hit.
