Of course you know Omar. Omar Hernandez that is, of Omar’s NYC. Omar Hernandez is not only a huge success and personality in New York City, he is back and of course, with a purpose (Haute Living readers, remember this: back with a purpose). Omar has a resume to kill in the hospitality industry, from working with Andre Balazs at the Raleigh Hotel to running the Manhattan Hotspot the Lion. In February, Hernandez opened a place of his own called Omar’s, a half membership – half open to the public destination in the West Village where he has thrown some of the most important soiree’s to hit the 212. Now, Omar is back to his city of Miami (even though he is from Venesuela), where he threw on of the most chic, yet intimate dinner parties I have ever been to in Miami. Held at the old Playboy Hotel (5400 Collins Avenue), the 55 person dinner was not only full of Miami society including Susan Turchin, Kamil Parchomienko, Julian Chebat, Ron and Marta Bloom, Kelly Gold, Jeffrey Thrasher with his partner Sam, and Michael Toccin along with New York Fashion Masterminds Kaufman Franco, there were also fashion-art industry creatives like Cobbler Brian Atwood, Crime by Design’s Ray Mariscal, Pucci’s Creative Director Peter Dundas, the eccentric Stacy Engman and Pippa Cohen. Omar’s partnered with the Lady Gaga’s Born this Way Foundation and Haute Living for the evening. The party then continued to the main theater (that remains in tact from the 70’s) where hundreds danced to a DJ Honey Dijon spun incredible tunes then a disco singer Linda Clifford performed for what was one of the most wild dance parties of Basel.
