Turntable master Steve Aoki took over Hakkasan at the MGM Grand on Sunday night for an early birthday celebration with about 6,000 of his closest friends. The soon-to-be 36-year-old, cake throwing sensation transformed the fourth level of the complex with his “Neon Future” party and pulled out all the stops for his special bash.

Around 1:30 a.m. Aoki made his way to the DJ booth and began his set while the energy of the main room soared with excitement. In honor of the spinning sensation’s birthday, his fans flocked to the venue clad in their best Aoki swag while displaying handcrafted signs wishing the superstar a happy birthday.

Nearing 2 a.m. a dozen of Hakkasan’s staff paraded around the deejay booth and presented Aoki with a four-tier birthday cake topped with a “Neon Future” branded champagne bottle.  The artist was thrilled and placed the cake atop of the DJ booth for all of his fans to see. As the night went on, Aoki continued the madness as he crowd surfed in his iconic raft, sprayed partygoers with champagne, caked a few lucky fans and blasted CO2 into the air with his custom made CO2 guns. Nearing the end of his set, Aoki welcomed a special guest for an impromptu performance. One half of the Dutch Eurodance duo 2 Unlimited, Ray Slijngaard, hopped atop the DJ booth and performed for thousands of partygoers.

Aoki had the entire night spot dancing into the early hours of the morning as he closed out his set and continued the celebration with his guests at his VIP table.
