Fashion Designer Raf Simons to Auction Ceramics Collection

Raf-Simons

Luxury fashion designer Raf Simons is selling his gorgeous 99-piece ceramics collection at Paris’ Piasa Rive Gauche auction house on Dec. 17. The items are part of the “French Ceramics from 1945-1970” sale, which is comprised of 205 lots.

“Raf Simons, who began working as a furniture designer, is a born collector,” the sale’s auctioneer, François Epin, explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “He would trade ceramics to make money while starting a fashion career as an intern for Walter Van Beirendonck in Paris.”

Simon’s covetable ceramic collection, which includes a Georges Jouve coffee table, is expected to fetch approximately $400,000. Other highlights include a “tree” vase by Valentine Schlegel priced at $22,112, and Pol Chambost vases which inspired the fall 2009 collection Simon designed for Jil Sander.
