What better way to get in the mood of autumn than cozying up the the luxurious Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay with a glass of wine and a movie?
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and wine tasting. Guests will enjoy artisan hors d’oeuvres paired with some of wine countries finest vintners. A Fromagerie will guide guests on tasting locally-grown and sourced olive oils and cheeses. Guests can also test their taste buds at the blind tasting table with Ritz-Carlton Sommelier Michael Scherzberg.
Starting at 7 p.m., the 90-minute documentary will be previewed in The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom where gourmet movie snacks and wine tastings continue. The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with featured guests filmmaker Jason Wise and sommeliers Ian Cauble, Brian Mclintic, Sagaria Sabato and DLynn Proctor.
Written and directed by Jason Wise, “SOMM” tells the story of four sommeliers attempting to pass the rigorous and prestigious Master Sommelier exam – the most difficult test you have never heard of.
“The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is one of the first places I filmed SOMM, and the bar there is the spot where Ian Cauble taught us how to understand blind tasting,” said filmmaker Jason Wise. “I am honored to bring SOMM back to The Ritz-Carlton show it surrounded by fine wine, great food, and the cast of the film.”
