Shane McConkey was a professional skier and BASE-jumper who left the ski community stunned when he died during a wingsuit accident in 2009. Besides progressing the sport of skiing with advancements in technology and athletic feats, he also left audiences in awe for his air stunts, which often included jumping thousands of feet from remote locations on skis to land with help from a parachute or wingsuit.

A new film produced by Red Bull Media House and Matchstick Productions shares his story through both the glory and the risks involved in getting there. Told through interviews, first-hand footage and thousands of hours of video clips edited down to one movie, “McConkey” will premiere in Aspen at the Limelight Hotel this Friday, Oct. 25.

There will be two showings of the film. A 7 p.m. showing will be geared toward families, while the second at 9:30 p.m. will be for adults 18 and older. Tickets for the film may be purchased at the Wheeler Box Office or online via www.aspenshowtix.com. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of show. Happy hour pricing on beer (including $3 Bud Light) will be available all night to movie guests, and a “Saucer Boy Special” will be offered (Jack Daniels for $5).
