Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program celebrated their 17th annual Kick-Off cocktail reception at the stunning St. Regis hotel in Bal Harbour, FL.
Mentors, school officials, contributors, and other supporters were present to show their support of the program’s success in Miami-Dade & Broward counties where they succor approximately 2,000 at-risk girls in 92 public high schools. Commenced in 1997 by television journalist Jennifer Valoppi and retired Telemundo Network President Don Browne, Women of Tomorrow has awarded over $3.4 million in college scholarships to nearly 1,300 mentees. After lunch, guests were escorted into the main ballroom where they enjoyed a touching video of the program’s 2013 Graduation Luncheon where 110 at-risk girls received over $60,000 in school scholarships. Guest also enjoyed the successful narrative by 2008 graduate Abby Brown about her own personal experience with Women of Tomorrow.
Among the guests were Heidi Battier, wife of Miami Heat player Shane Battier. All in attendance were able to enjoy the display of the Miami Heat’s 2012 Championship Trophy.
