In Aspen, a bad view is hard to find. But, some restaurants do it better than others, and others have something more unique to offer. Here are tips on Roaring Fork Valley vistas.

1 Sundeck

Perched at 11,212 feet on top of Aspen Mountain, the surrounding 360-degree views of the Elk Mountains can't be beat. The Sundeck is only accessible by the gondola, which means it's just lunch service here-unless you're lucky enough to be invited up to dinner for a private event. On warm days, take the meal outside to the patio to enjoy high-alpine breezes in laid-back Adirondack chairs.

2 Ajax Tavern

If the best restaurant view in Aspen is at the top of the mountain, then the second best is looking up at it. The Ajax Tavern sits at the base of Aspen Mountain, offering unparalleled views of the towering slopes. And, because it serves as a launching point for anyone riding the Silver Queen Gondola, the people-watching is stellar too.

3 Pacifica Aspen

Though the views of the mountains from the patio of Pacifica are remarkable, it's the constant entertainment in Wagner Park and the pedestrian mall that qualify Pacifica a restaurant with a vista. Perfectly situated on the corner between the water fountain and town's most central grassy lawn, the parade of people is endless and makes for great dinner conversation over the fresh raw bar.

4 Plato's

Situated in one of the buildings on the Aspen Insitute's idyllic camps, Plato's is surrounded by verdant forest, rolling green hills and intimate views of Red Mountain. Though it's only a mile from the city's downtown core, its serene landscape and peaceful setting creates a lands-away feel for diners. The restaurant itself is lined with large, glass windows so that no one has a bad view.

5 Eight K

This expansive and fairly new restaurant looks out over the Brush Creek Valley inside the Viceroy Snowmass. But, if the sweeping views out the windows aren't enough, the 87-foot bar, contemporary design and classic mountain vibe should be enough eye candy to fill you up.
